The Problem With Everburning
Chapter 2

The two walked down the aisles for a long time, neither sure which way exactly to go. So Xigbar intelligently suggested they retrace their steps back to the dead end. Then they'd go down the aisle nearest the wall and hopefully find a door at it's end or another wall to follow.
" I bet Xaldin wouldn't have a problem with this mess." He said thoughtfully.
" No I suppose not. " Axel sighed. " By the way, why were you lieing on the ground, Xigby?"
" Don't call me Xigby." He warned. " I was sleeping. Funny thing is, I don't remember going to sleep."
" Well usually you don't." Axel pointed out.
" I meant I only remember poking through the shelfs. Then I turned around and I suppose that's when I fell asleep. Because the next thing I remember is something sitting on me. "
" I see."
" No you don't."
" No I don't, but how could you just fall asleep standing up? Unless...." Axel gave him a wary look. " What did you do last night?
Xigbar thought about that for a second:

*flash back*

" Alright boys, lets see what you got. " Luxord said, looking around the poker table. He was half naked and in his underwear. The other occupants of the table didn't have their cloaks on, but they weren't as undressed as Luxord was. Obviously he was the one loseing. Luxord placed his cards on the table as everyone else did, and his face flushed.
" This never leaves the poker table."

*end flash back*

" Let's just say I nearly died laughing." Xigbar smiled.
" I'm going to pretend I did not think bad thoughts about what might have happened last night." Axel said nervously.
Suddenly Xigbar noticed the smoke was much thinner than it was once. " Axel, We might be near the front door of the library. "
" Or the side door!"
" That too."
" Or maybe the back door."
" We don't have a back door for the library."
" Then maybe a window!"
" Axel."
" What?"
" Please shut up. You're almost as bad as Demyx."
" Yeah, but I'm not the one who was playing Fairy Princess this morning."
" Oh God, I hope not." Xigbar mumbled.
They stepped out into a clear space where there was no smoke. That was good, and bad.
Good for Axel, bad for Xigbar.
" Hey! I would've never have thought of that! It's an air duct!"
" Goodie." Xigbar groaned.
" Aw, cheer up Xigby buddy, it could be worse."
" How much worse?" He asked. " We're stuck in a maze of books and frankly, your not all too bright. No offense."
" None taken. " Axel replied. " Well, it could be worse if, for say, we were attacked by flying monkeys. "
" Oh no." Xibgar groaned again.
" Or it could be worse if, for say, you were caught by a certain pissed off female."
That wasn't Axel's voice.
Xigbar looked up and gave Axel a questioning look. He only shrugged, and whispered, " I suggest we leave now-"
" AXEL!" Screamed a female voice. Obviously Larxene.
" Axel's not here, please leave a message!" Axel cried as he quickly grabbed Xigbar by wrist and started to run.
Xigbar felt a jerk on the back of his uniform and the two stopped dead still. The two could almost feel the intense glare from the woman behind them.
" Hello boys." She said with venom. Xigbar thought he felt his skin prickle and his hairs stood on end.
Xigbar was one of the few who avoided Larxene's wrath, and so he never had to deal with a frightening situation like this.
" Larxene, maybe we can talk this out-" Xigbar started.
" Are you crazy? Larxene isn't the type to talk!" Axel interrupted him.
" You've done your homework Axel, too bad you failed the exam when you set Demyx's doll house on fire." She hissed.
" Why is she mad about that? Even she hates Demyx. He's almost as bad as Marluxia and his hair."
Axel scratched the side of his head, " Well, I set it off in Larxene's Happy Place....so, that might have something to do with it."
" Damn right it does! And stop calling it my happy place or I'll keep your head as a trophy." She growled. " By the way Xigbar, did you know you can't teleport?"
" Yeah, we figured that out a while ago." Xigbar sighed. He figured out Larxene wasn't mad at him, just Axel. " I don't suppose you've found an exit, have you? " He asked.
" No, " She growled again," I was hunting down Axel. Which by the way, do you mind if I barrow him for a second?"
" Eh? Wha?" Axel started, afraid of what she was going to do.
" Sure, I don't mind one bit. All he keeps talking about is flying monkeys. " Xigbar answered, glad she suggested getting rid of him for a moment. But had he known what Larxene would do to Axel, he would've had a second thought about it.
" No! Xigby! Don't let her take me away! " Axel cried as she let go of Xigbar and dragged Axel off into the smoke.
Xigbar waved goodbye.
" NOOO!!!"
" Shut up you red-headed porcupine!" Larxene sneered.
Xigbar heard the sound of something sharp being unsheathed and a breif struggle. Soon after it stopped and he heard Axel's voice faintly in the smoke.
" What are you going to do with those-No don't! Please I swear, I'll do anything! Don't do it! Please I beg of you!" He heard Axel cry out.
For a moment, he felt a slight pang of guilt. Only slightly though.
There was the sound of another struggle and then for a while it was quiet. After a few minutes the two emerged from the smoke again; Larxene had a victorious smile on and Axel looked like a whipped dog. When he looked up at Xigbar he frowned deeply, his green eyes turned cold and mean, and he pointed a finger at him.
" I hate you..." He fumed.
Truthfully he didn't look like he had any marks of abuse on him, of course wearing a cloak could hide almost anything.
" Now that that's over, are we ready to find a way out of here?" Xigbar asked, not daring to ask what she did to Axel a second ago.
" Gladly." Larxene smiled. Her sudden change of attitude creeped Xigbar out. " You boys are in luck, because I know every nook and cranny of this place. So finding an exit should be a peice of cake. " She snapped her fingers to show how fast she meant, at the same exact time the smoke parted in front of them to make a sort of corridor through the smoke. " Wow. That was fast."
