Its nothing like this
Dont make up lies
There's nothing like this so dont tell me
That the pain of a broken bone
And the pain of a broken heart
Share the same size
Put it on a scale
Test it out
See the numbers?
You were wrong
So when the new girl cried
Because of the poem read to her in class
And everyone sat still
Stared even,
They let her shoulders jerk up and down,
Let her hiccups push her heart that much further from her mind
Until it came pouring out of her wrists
in an escape from the body that it no longer wanted.
She had an honest heart
And an even more honest mind
But she looked different, wore the scarf around her head
So they pushed her out of their circle
Alone she stood in her own little box
Which she'd painted black, mind you
Because when no one bothered to share with her but a smile
There wasn't a single color that could make it near
the shadow her hear had cast
So put her on a scale
Put her heart on one side
Her mind on the other and they'll balance out
Because they're either both empty
or both filled with nothing.
And there is a difference.
Put it on a scale,
You'll see.

- It says the shadow her hear had cast, it should be her heart had cast
