I hear footsteps and shrink back, frozen.
Are You coming in and telling me how to
Write my name or read my notes?
The way You snap and bite and invade
Scares me, frightens me to death.
And You always egg it on,
Always force me to hide.
I can't tell you why i hid because
I'm afraid of what You might do,
How You'll react.
I hate how you barge into my room,
Demanding for me to come out.
"It's not healthy!" You'll say.
But i know it's so You can keep controlling me.
I'd choose solitude over health if i could.
It should be like the Vatican,
Still in Italy, but free.
But it will never be because You,
The totalitarian, must rule your subject: me.
I used to tell You everything,
Then I stopped because You'd
Roll Your eyes and say, "Lord!"
You may not see it, but i hide for
A reason.
It's an escape.
From the world. From the outside.
But not, no matter how hard i try, from You.
I have learned to fear You.
You, who has made it your goal
To turn me into You.
You, who has made it clear that if i
Have no good thing to say about You,
Then i shouldn't say anything at all.
You, who made me me.
You, who, despite everything,
Rules the room Vatican.
