When we were younger,
In the middle of June
We'd sit by the fire
and hum happy tunes.
When we were younger,
In the middle of autumn,
We'd trade cards in the tree house
And sleep under the stars, quiet as the mouse.
When we got older,
and flowers bloomed
We'd sit oh so silent in our old tree world
And from the look in his eyes, I knew we were doomed.
When we got older,
and snow hit the ground.
We all found out that he was no longer around
We all cursed the war,
And we all cursed the draft
And then at the graveyard
We cried with the wind at our backs
And then we went home
And we all got older
And some of us forgot
But I still remember
When were younger.
