• I'll go switch off the lights because with darkness, silence falls
In the melancholy quiet of the soft star light
There is only sleep who makes its calls
It's soporific siren induces the dreams of the night

It was the night that the sky was black that I dreamt of you
It was the night that the crickets hummed and a bird cried afar
I dreamt of colorful visions, joyful songs, and love that is new
I dreamt of you and I dreamt of me, and how we stored our love in a little glass jar

The jar was filled to the top with light, warmth, and song
We sat hand in hand with our jar, keeping it close and keeping it closed
We watched our jar, watching our love shimmer and shine all day long
We watched it till the moon hung high, it was then we regretfully dozed

With both our eyes shut, fast asleep, was when a storm came with a gust
With that one gust our jar was pushed and tumbled right onto the floor
The poor little jar then cracked and shattered, it's cargo turned to dust
The dusty glitter that no longer shimmered left us with the storm, lost forever more

We awoke and saw the shattered remains of our jar, a pile of glass
We used glue, we used tape, we made our jar look like new, but it was empty
Once again we kept our jar close to our sides, but with new feelings that didn't pass
We felt just as hollow as our jar, but we went on with kisses plenty

As the days went on we grew tired, we fought and we yelled
We forgot how we used to feel for one another, hate was moving in
We then forgot the real purpose of the jar and our love it once held
We got tired of pretending and waiting for a change, patience growing thin

It was the night that the stars lost there shimmer when you left my dream
It was the night that they filled the jar with ashes after you took the knife
It was the night that the crickets quit their simple song it would seem
It was the night that they burried the little glass jar that you truly left my life
