• .The Boy in the Dark

    After dark on a cold winter night;
    I was walking alone to the gates of the cemetery to meet up with a friend but she never showed.
    So I was on my way home when I heard footsteps coming from behind me.
    I immediately thought it was my friend, thinking she was just running a little late, I turned around to greet her.

    As soon as I did, I knew it wasn’t her because when I turned around, I got a chill that spread through my entire body, it wasn’t a bad feeling, it was actually sort of pleasant.
    The boy in black, that was about my age, beckoned me to come to him.
    I felt a pull that made me want to run right into his arms.
    Once I realized what I was thinking, I snapped out of it and ran in the opposite direction. I knew he was following me so I ran until I was pretty sure he was gone. I can feel myself shaking with fear. I was sweating like I’ve never sweat before, to the point where I could taste the saltiness. I knew that when I got home, I would be having a long hot shower, where it was so hot that it would keep my skin nice and warm and it would also fog up my mirror.

    As I was walking home, I could feel myself start to calm down to where I no longer heard my heartbeat in my ears. As I came to the street, just one before mine, the streetlights would flicker and then completely burn out.
    I came to the idea as the wind blew my hair into my face that I could call my parents to pick me up. As I reached for my phone, in my peripheral vision I saw a hand reach for me. I was about to scream as a hand came over my mouth to stop me.

    I don’t know how I knew, but the boy that followed me from the cemetery was the one that had his hand over my mouth. I thought about hurting him and running. As if reading my mind he said “Don’t be afraid, I’m not here to hurt you, if I turn you around do I have your word that you will not run from me?”
    I could feel that my body was frozen to the point that I thought I was going to die. So I decided just to nod. When he turned me around, just as the wind blew my hair out of my face. I also could not help noticing the delicious fragrance that came from the boy, I did not know. It was such a delicious smell that it overpowered me, and I could feel my legs come out from under me, and then, it went black.
