Hunger lurks round the corner,
People pass ignorance their excuse,
Beautiful Boy selling wild flowers,
Hardly four years old yet a suffering untold,
Day by day people pass ignorance their excuse,
Beautiful Boy selling flowers,
Wilted yet still retain their beauty.
Hunger triumphs on the corner,
People pass by without noticing,
Ignorance their excuse,
Beautiful Boy on the corner wilted,
Dead like so many.
Today I saw a theft,
A theft of a young child’s life barely lived,
Hunger was his killer,
Sorrow and guilt will be mine.
- Title: Hunger
- Artist: Stormgem
- Description: This poem was trigged by an image I found while researching for a speech about the hunger crisis. In part it was also triggered by the many images that flash across our tv screen on a daily basis. This boy now haunts my dreams, and makes me thankful for the gift of the near perfect life I have.

- Beautiful poem. What I admire most, though, is how you admit that you have a near-perfect life. So many people don't appreciate the simple things they have, and prefer to whine about their lives.

- I hate that people are hungry in the world. I go to the store and carry food clothes and sheets around just for when i see them. Then i give them the items and it makes my day feel better.
