'Twas years ago,
'neath falling stars,
a crystalline land,
of soaring dreams.
When my heart did glean,
a glimpse of fate,
its creeping fingers,
that twist and bend.
Like lovers we stood,
'neath those falling stars,
hand-in-hand,
in young lovers' arms.
He took my eyes,
held them fast,
and whispered softly,
"Forever I am thine."
And then I knew fate,
in the peal of thunder,
I met its will,
in the cracking of ice.
Down he went,
before my very eyes,
struggling against,
the unrelenting ice.
His screams wrenched my soul,
his blood froze my veins,
fate's hands paralyze me,
holding me fast where I stand.
As I watched in silence,
the ice swallowed him whole,
and fate's cheerful giggles,
broke me from my hold.
Tears of falling stars,
freezing solid to my cheeks,
the water still and inky,
black depths undisturbed.
'Twas years ago,
'neath falling stars,
when fate did bring,
and end to my dreams.
