The lights were bright.
On that night I laughed so much.
The sun was warm, the moon a cool white.
The carnival was so alive that night.
The granduer of it all took away my sense.
I didn’t even notice the weather change.
Too bad, bad for me, was too concerned with the games, the rides.
Neon flickered off the silver glass in the hall.
I remember the sign boasted of it’s class.
‘The most mesmorizing mirror hall in the state.’
So my instincts pulled me towards the entry.
I mistook the lightening for neon lights.
The glass reflected my exurberant face, bright eyes.
I never heard the bellowing thunder.
Never noticed the harsh wind blowing my hair.
Then, a shiny panel cracked, splintered.
Mt surprise and horror reflecred in a thousand tiny facets.
Another crash and crack, a scream from my lips.
The walls started to fall.
Everything seemed as if it were in slow motion.
The millions of glas shards fell, pointed and sharp.
They reflected my horrified smile and the face paint I wore made me look unreal and ghostly pale.
The carnival was so alive that night.
So alive because the wind blew the death away.
