On Christmas Eve, hope is in the air
presents wrapping, small ones napping, stingy children share
after sleeping for a second, they all wake up again
ripping open paper, only crumpled heaps remain
after playing with their toys, and finding some are dull
the chances of them cleaning go from one percent to null
when the excitement is all over and they wake up the next day,
the children wash the dishes when the parents go away
unfortnantly some people have to work on holidays
are the sale prices worth it, why is money such a craze
the spirit of Christmas was much stronger in the past
but in this crazy world, i have to doubt that it will last
