A Desperate Cry
Branches like fingers reaching for a higher purpose.
For when the cool wind comes, a life will be lost.
But yet, this life is not lost, it’s just resting.
In the warmer times this lifeless beauty will be awakened!
Soon it will be a flawless beauty.
The branches are whiskers,
When cold, they shiver in the wind.
Goose bumps appear,
For the tree is embarrassed of its nakedness.
In spring, the fur coat of leaves returns.
The tree blooms with happiness,
For now the children adore as they swing and climb our friend.
Yet the tree is still lonely.
He realizes his friends will leave soon,
For the warmth does not last, it just slowly fades.
Our friend the tree now says goodbye,
For now he has to start all over.
