• August Memories

Memories of him come to me on a
    Warm August breeze
Just as they do this time
    Every year it seems

My mind takes me back to a time, to a place
To a friendship, and to a calming of souls
His heart was breaking for his love
For only she could make him whole

And I could see that he was finding
He loved her more than he wanted to admit
But on and on we'd go
He did not and would not quit

So he introduced me to NYC
He gave life to all my dreams
And to dream is to believe
    At least is to me

    We sipped margaritas
    Visited Time Square
    Admired brownstone
He had so much to share

    We crammed so many memories,
Sights and sounds into two short days
And when I think about it all
    I am still quite amazed

    It's eight years later and
I can literally recall every minute
Every breath, every detail, every smile

I hear he finally married his love and
    Moved away from NYC
He went and made something real
Of all his wishes and dreams

    But as a sit here
Enjoying the wind as it plays with my hair
    I can't help but wonder
    If memories of our friendship
Come to him on this warm August breeze
