The vampire sits like a lonely statue
Not knowing where the night will take him.
His eyes scan the ground below him as he waits.
No one sees him atop the cathedral
No one knows he’s there.
The vampire dreams and longs for a treasure lost.
He feels the ache is his dead heart.
Years ago he knew love.
He knew the feel of a woman beside him.
Her laugh and her smile kept him alive.
She was his light in his eternal darkness.
Though time could not ravage him,
It ravaged her.
One night he found her dead for good upon her floor.
He pulled her close and wept for hours.
His flower, who was to be like him one day, was withered
and gone.
He whisked her away in blind pain, not caring for the
growing sunlight.
In solitude he put her to rest.
Only he knew where she lay
Only he will know her curves
Only he ever truly loved her.
The vampire will never forget this past
Though he longs to join his dearest angel.
In his dreams she calls him and the longing burns
Now he sits on constant vigil after his meal
Praying to see her spirit in the night.
