• Love is a Man of Shadows

    That silent step
    That misty gleam
    He is here
    To get me

    Those sapphire eyes
    Hold me in captivity
    Bound by desire
    He makes me his slave

    With jet black hair
    Swept across his face
    A void of endless shadow
    Consumes me

Alabaster skin pale as the moon
    Shines in the dusk
    To shame the moonlight
    And blind me

    With agility he walks
    Slowly approaching
    Determined
    Eyes set on me

Steps as quiet as rain drops
    With force outweighing gods
    Closer he comes
    To have me as his

    Broken
    Damaged
    Failed
    Malfunctional
Is how he should see me

    But no

    With grace he steps
    Pit
    Pat
    Pit
    Pat
Never stopping, he comes toward me

I sit in nervousness and uncertainty
That he may get to close
    And if he should
What will he do to me?

To tense, to overpowered to move
    No chance of escape
I sit and stare in the eyes of ruin
And wait for him to kill me

    He stops

    At my feet he stands
    Towering
His eyes push me down further
    The pressure controls me

    But in one fluid movement
    He kneels to my level
    I can’t face him
But he stares at me anyway

    In a swift second
I am against the cold earth
    Hair raveled, dress wrinkled
    He holds me down

    Fear
    Fear
    Fear

All that I am able to feel
    Is nothing
    Is everything
    As Fear consumes me

A moonlit hand caresses my cheek
Fingers warm against ay icy lips
    Fear subsiding
    What is happening to me?

His endless eyes gaze into mine
    A bittersweet gaze
    One with clouded intention
    As he passionately holds me

    This feeling
    This is no longer fear
    No…
    What has overcome me?

Fiery embers spew from his silent breath
    And slither down my neck
And at my ear he stops
Bound to reveal to me his intentions

“ I have been waiting for you
    My love
    For this moment
For eternity, just you and me”

Why…me? Is what I barely say

And with a lifeless giggle he said

    Everything about him
    Ends with “me”
