I am a rose, black and withering
I wonder what will happen when all my petals fall
I hear screams of terror in this horrible, dark place
I see a cloudy sky blocking the bright light that gives me strength to live
I want this to be a dream I will soon wake up from
I am a rose, black and withering
I pretend maybe I’m the lucky one
I feel lonely, for I’m the last one standing
I touch the hard dry soil and pray for water
I worry about what it’s like to die
I cry no tears, for I’ve cried them all before
I am a rose, black and withering
I understand life is short, and death is forever
I say my prayers to Mother, hoping she’ll be kind and give me another chance
I dream of the frightening horrors of things I’ve been told about death
I try to be optimistic, but there’s no hope left in my heart
I hope that I die I’ll be happy
I am a rose, black and withering

- Title: I Am...
- Artist: demonprincesssmiles
- Description: Poem I wrote last year for my writing grade. My mom read it (without my permission, which made me mad) and really liked it, along with my sisters Cheresse & Renee and my dad and grandmother. I can't remember who else but i don't think i got a bad comment (except for my dad asking if I was troubled, which makes no sense cuz I'm also called Smilesqueen. Hope you enjoy!!
