She says she’s sorry she got mad and beat me
She’ll never do it again
I nod as I take out my key
Realizing the truth just then
I look back on past talks just like this
All ending the same way
With her promising instant bliss
And my common sense being led astray
But now I’ve seen the light
I’ve seen right past the lies
We will not be alright
Until the last goodbyes
- Title: Broken Promises
- Artist: Firenzied
- Description: I wrote this poem when I was very angry at my mother. I had called her to pick me up from school. In the car, she had gotten mad at me for not having my cellphone on so she could call me back. I told her my phone's battery died. She then hit me extremely hard and then started barraging me with insults/lecture. Later, she said she was sorry and she would never do it again. I would forgive her, but I can't tell you how many times I have shared that kind of conversation with her. Enjoy.

- I really regret writing this now. My mother recently died of breast cancer. She might have been a pain at times, but we grew pretty close. I can't imagine life without her. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to go on without her. It pains me to read this poem now. Even though she never read it, I wish I could have stopped myself from writing it. Funny...I never even had a "last goodbye"...All I had was garbled gibberish from a drugged up woman...

- I'm sorry... Somehow it looks hard to endure it. Parents are forgetful at times...
