Your facade is peeling back,
I see glimpses of what I've always known
lie beneath
your false face,
your safe haven,
your sanity's parapet.
Your fragile mask,
cracking under the pressure
of my prying gaze.
Your smile is slipping,
you look uncomfortable.
May I get you something to drink?
I'm afraid a glass of water
can't repair your bulwark of
carefully spun,
professionally crafted,
shamefully dreamt up
fabrications.
Can you feel the horror
lighting your eyes in
colors I've not seen before?
Can you feel the color
sinking from your skin,
replaced by a paleness
unmatched my victims
prior?
It's all too clear now,
your lies fall through,
but you have nothing to fall back.
Truth is the enemy,
I am the enemy,
you are the enemy.
Why must you leave?
But you've only just come!
We are not finished here,
just yet,
but now that you have glimpsed
the light,
next time, it will be easier to find.
No next time, you say?
A joke, a jest,
I shan't believe you.
Don't forget your smile
on your way out the door.
I sure as hell don't want it.

Description:
A predator among people, seeking out truth in the lives of its prey.
My best friend gave me the idea, I just wrote around his 'glass mask' theory.
