It glistens like water drops on such a green leaf
Greener its body, cobalt blue notes on a wing
I'm looking for something to relive the relief
That watching them fly long ago used to bring
The water now call us, in the wet Summertime
Iridiscent ways to say that it's all the same thing
Sticky with mud we will fly up on high
Strong like the breeze, thin like a colourless wing
That's what they dreamed of when they made
Churches with stained glass, light spectra that dance
Unbreakable Truth in a creatures that fade
They help us to see up above what is certain
To break out from the shackles that trap up in good sense
And the sky and our dreams are now more than a curtain

- Title: Dragonflies
- Artist: dorareever

Description:
Written for the Spirit Animal Series I'm working on currently.
Dragonflies embody beauty and spirituality to me hence the sonnet.
It's the first sonnet I write, it might seem metrically awkward in some parts but it has been written to be sung. When sung it sounds perfectly right. - Date: 07/22/2008
