Some people think that school is a safe place to learn, with understandable restrictions, while others think it’s a jail, run by tyrant Nazis. I was one of those girls that went with the first opinion. This is, until I died. Yes, died. I’m now just a wandering soul, crying out to be heard, to be justified. So now, I’m here to tell my story, to those who will listen.
Winter, my favorite season. It was a chilly December day, clouds hung low overhead, threatening a snow day. Lunchtime was always great, my boyfriend and I always ate together… (I miss Isac so much…) We had been dating for one year, five months, and six days. (Not that I was counting or anything…) I remember how, on really cold days, I would pretend to be freezing so that he would hold me close. (Although, all I really had to do was ask…) Anyway, junior year was all ours, we ruled it. We had just about every class together and the same lunches together on A days and B days.

“Bye snookie.” Isac said smiling as lunch ended. I giggle a little at his nickname for me. “I love you.” I smile and walk into his open arms for a hug. “I love you too Grace.” I love how he always holds me so sweetly. After we share a small kiss, he chuckles. “Have fun in chemistry.” The only class we don’t have together. “Oh boat loads.” I mumble, smiling slightly. “Alright let’s get to class. I’ll miss you.” He smiles, giving another, somewhat long kiss. “I’ll miss you too puddin’.” I say, nuzzled into his neck. After saying our little byes and all, we’re off to class.
“Alright class, sit down. How was lunch?” Ah, Mr. Owens, one of our strangest teachers. Of course, only the few rednecks and jerks replied sarcastically, “Great Mr. Owens!” I roll my eyes, unable to help laughing quietly. “Alright, great!” he laughs, “Today class we will be taking notes on.-” Ding ding, the announcement bell goes off. “This is your principle speaking, the school is now under lockdown, an intruder is on campus. Lock all doors, stay away from windows and turn off all lights. Please, this is not a-” He’s cut off by a loud crash, a blood curling scream and then…silence. “What’s going on?” I whisper, still in shock from the scream. “Everyone, get over there now!” Mr. Owens orders frantically. Isac… I think, pulling out my phone. “B safe pudding…” Dang it! No reception… I sigh, worried, needing to be with him. “Alright, everyone, just stay on the ground, don’t get up for any- hey, Grace where are you- get back here!” But I’m already running out the door, it closing and locking behind me. Isac… Running through the hallways as quiet as I can, I notice not just the lights off in the classrooms, but in the hallways as well. “How did the lights get cut off…?” I muse. Wait, there, I see it, his classroom! My eyes start watering, happy to have made it without any troubles. Slowing down, getting to the door, I quickly look around. It’s so dark down that hall… I quickly knock on the door. “Hello? Hello! Please, open the door!” It’s silent; I can hear my words echo off the walls. I hear a mumble in the classroom. “Grace? Gracey!” Isac makes his way to the door, looking relieved. “Come on, get in here.” I smile; his hand is on the door knob. Was that a footstep? I turn quickly, eyes widening as I see a dark, looming figure coming at me fast. “Isac stay in there!” I turn to run, feeling a heavy hand fall on my neck. “No! Grace, no!” I can hear Isac screaming, hear the other kids holding him back, shouting for him not to go, warning him. I try to hold back my screams, trying not to make Isac come out, just wanting him to be safe. Isac is in pretty good shape, strong muscles but this… thing is so much bigger. “Ah! Let me go!” Stupid! I cover my mouth. It grins a surprisingly white grin, holding me against the wall by my neck, reaching for something. A flash of silver. I struggle to breath, grabbing at his hand. Oh God… “Now…” he (definitely he) whispers, his voice surprisingly soft and… caring? No… calming, he’s trying to get me off guard. I feel his grip loosen enough for me to breathe. “Let’s not scream and worry little… Isac, was it?” He leans forward, light hitting him from the hallway I just came from. The very first thing I notice, he has red eyes! His hair, it’s so bright, it’s down to his neck and i-it’s white. He must be albino… “Like my eyes? Interesting huh?” I hear him, looking over his other features, strong nose, squared jaw, a somewhat slim face and his lips, they look so soft…. How could a man like this kill anyone…? My own blue eyes go back to his red spheres, now stuck there.”Now, let’s say goodbye.” He grins and turns to the door, pushing me against it facing the window. “Hey Isac!” He shouts, grinning, eyes dancing. “Come watch!” his voice now loud and harsh. I hear Isac scream, angry, scared, and hysterical. “Grace! Run! Please Grace!” I’m crying now, knowing I can’t. “I love you Isac…” He is three feet from the window, still being held back, crying, dropping to his knees. “I love you too Grace…” He knows. A sharp pain goes through my side; I scream out and try to get away from the window. “Oh no no no, you stay right there.” He mumbles, turning me around and continues stabbing, grinning wickedly.

I think I will leave it at that… I remember dying, seeing his red eyes last, seeing him walk away from my close to death body. Then the darkness… He still hasn’t been caught. This was twelve years ago.
