The problem with trying to imagine something beyond the known, beyond the norm, is that it has to be based on the known. You can't think of something you've never seen before. Everything is based on old archetypes, old patterns. So how can you ever do anything truly original? You can't. Originality isn't the aim. Universality is. Ya dig?
Writing is a connection. Between your conscious and your unconscious, between yourself and your readers, between yourself and the world. Writing is a beautiful thing. I don't think I would know myself if I didn't write. But truly beautiful writing is never about saying something that hasn't been said before. It's about finding that thing that has been said billions of times, and making it yours, adding something of yourself to it, so that it becomes new all over again. Lather, rinse, and repeat.
In summary, nothing is original, but that's okay, because all the important, all the revolutionary, thoughts that will ever be had have already been had and will continue to be had.
Ha. Am I making any sense at all?

- That was great, it is always hard for the writer to be their own way original if you stive to be like the greats. It speaks out. EXCELLENT!

- No, I totally get it! Ironically enough, I thought about the connection thing too. But it's weird to think that nothing is original, but it is, but it's not! So confusing, but it makes sense!
