It was dark…very dark. A very stormy night. Where rain poured down like thousands of rock. Where lightning could most possibly destroy the hardest metal, and where an evil monster will plot his move.
Shirley Cacus was laying on her bed, staring out the window into the storm. The rain was smashing against her window, and Shirley was afraid the rain will come through. She slowly closed her eyes. Lightning, then thunder. She tossed and turned, trying to get away from the noise. Lightning, and more thunder came. Lightning and…. “CRASH!”.
Shirley woke up startled and frightened. Did lightning struck her house? She heard footsteps. Very quiet footsteps. Burglar, Shirley though. The confused little girl laid frozen on her bed. She had to get mom and dad. At this point, she had no idea where the burglar was until she heard pounding against the wall to the right of her shoulder. Pounding, pounding…then a gunshot. A feminine scream was followed. Then more pounding. Shirley shot up and quickly hid under her bed. She slid herself up a tiny compartment, the place where she would always hide herself in Hide-n-seek, and closed it. Shirley heard her bedroom door open, and the sound of her bed sheets being pulled up and thrown across the room. Through the tiny hole, Shirley could see a masculine face looking down at the bottom of her bed. He looked familiar. But it was too dark to see the face exactly. She could hear a loud growl coming from the man, then she heard her bedroom door shut loudly. Next door, though, she heard a body being thrown and hit her left wall. It was her 5 year old brother. Then a gunshot followed.
Shirley was still hiding in the compartment. She has been in there for an hour waiting for the man to leave. Taking a risky move, she climbed out and looked out her window. Standing on the front lawn with a torch, was the man. Now, she could see the face clearly. It was the man who came yesterday to buy the house, but her dad rejected his offer. Mr. Titter, Shirley remembered. Mr. Titter threw the torch onto the porch, and it caught on fire. Shirley sprang and ran downstairs. It was blocked by columns of fire. She checked the back porch, which was already set on fire. She ran upstairs to each of the bedrooms. Lying in a clump, were three corpses in her parent’s room. Mr. Cacus, Mrs. Cacus, and James Cacus floated on a pool of blood. With no time to mourn right now, she dashed out the window and landed hard on the grass. A sigh of relief came to Shirley, but her sadness will soon come. As she lifted her head up, she saw a boot. She looked higher, and a gun was pointing at her face.
“There you are, honey.” Mr. Titter spoke. He slowly pulled the trigger to his gun.
It was time for Shirley, too.
