Chapter 5: Till Death Do We Part
When I looked out my window I saw Simon getting out of a car and coming inside the house. I ran into Andrew’s room and he wasn’t there. I looked past the railing and saw him waiting to leave with Simon. “Andrew!” I whispered. He looked up at me. I waved for him to come up into my room and he did. I shut the door and locked it. “What’s going on?” I asked. His face had no emotion at all. “I’m leaving. You won’t talk to me and all I get is a smile. So I’m leaving.” He said sternly. I started to cry and his face softened. He walked over slowly and put his arm over me. He looked at me and our faces were centimeters apart. He took my chin with his two fingers and leveled my eyes with his. “It’s not like I want to leave. I wanted to stay and at least see you, but my creator has decided I live with him.” He said softly. I nodded and leaned my head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around me and put his head on mine and kissed the top of my hair. He stroked my hair and shushed me softly.
We were at the bus stop waiting. He was tightly wrapped around me and neither of us wanted to let go anytime soon. We both cried and then the bus pulled up as we cried. I looked up at him and he looked down at me as he pulled me into a deep kiss for goodbye. I cried after that and walked onto the bus.
I woke up in my bed. I looked at my clock on the side and it read 10:43 p.m. I immediately got up and went to Andrew’s bedroom. He was gone. I walked in and started to cry when I noticed that his charger was by his bed along with a note. I picked it up and read it.
Marni,
I can’t do this. The way you make me feel is something I know I’ll never experience again. As an android I never thought it would be possible to ever care for someone so much. As seeing as I can’t live without you, I’ve left my charger so I can’t recharge. Forever together in a world of pain and sorrow we’ll stay.
Love always,
Andrew
I looked at it and couldn’t believe he was doing this. “MOM!!!!” I screamed. She came running up. “W what is it?!” she yelped. I looked at her. “Where did Simon say he was living?” I croaked. She came over and looked out the window. “River Creek Why?” She said curious. “I need to get over there.” I said determined. She frowned. “No. you’re not going.” She said sternly. I looked at her and ran out from my room and grabbed her car keys. I sat in the driver’s seat with the charger that I made sure to grab. I drove to River Creek and saw the houses that looked so similar. I walked up to random house’s asking if they were the residence I was looking for and there was only 1 house left. I walked up to it and noticed his car wasn’t there. I crawled through an open window and found the basement. I went down under and found Andrew sitting on a chair. He looked up and smiled. I ran over to him and looked into his eyes. He looked tired and laid his head on my shoulder. “Why would you even think to do that?” I asked. “Because I love you and can’t live without you.” He muffled through tears. I started to cry and lifted his head up to see his face. His eyes shifted from one eye to the other looking for answers. I hugged him tightly and kissed his lips lightly. I stood up and he did too. We started to walk out of the house and saw Simon’s car coming down the street. We looked at each other and ran the opposite direction towards other streets. We stopped by the last house on a street that was two blocks away and took a breath. We sat down for a minute and he looked over at me. I smiled and I knew he was tired. He really needed to recharge but he couldn’t yet so I felt bad. He came closer and I did too. “I love you.” He whispered. “I love you too.” I whispered back. I kissed him and he deepened the kiss. He let his hand rest on my waist while his other was on my face. I did the same thing as him and we sat there for a while not wanting to let go of each other. We pulled away and got up to go walk since we couldn’t use the car with it in his driveway and all.
We eventually got home but found Simon’s car there instead. I walked in slowly with Andrew at my heels again and opened the door quietly. I screamed at what I saw. My mom was lying on the floor with blood flowing from her mouth. Andrew covered his mouth and held me close to his side. We walked around the house and found Simon sitting at the kitchen table drinking a beer. He looked at us and got up walking close to us and only inches from our faces. “You stole my property.” He slurred. We backed up from the strength of whisky on his breath. He swung a beer bottle to my head and I went crashing down to the floor. Andrew picked me up and I saw that my head was bleeding. His face twisted into a frown as he grew angrier by the blood coming from my head. He turned to look at Simon and took a piece of the broken glass leaving it to cut into Simons head. Simon fell to the floor and looked up at Andrew. Andrew kicked him back down and took another piece of glass throwing it into his throat. Simon drowned in his own blood and lay lifeless on the floor. Andrew came over to me and held me closer to his chest than before.
Chapter 6: Changes
As the rain danced in the wind, I ignored the constant yelling from Andrew. I looked over at him to see his eyes change to wide from squinted. “Well? Don’t you have anything to say?!” he yelled again. I looked over at him and started to walk away. “No” I said sternly. I walked up to the dinner table and looked at our wedding picture. Our relationship was going downhill. He couldn’t go out in the rain so he stayed in the living room. I looked over to his direction. I sighed and looked at my hands. All we ever do is fight now. We knew we couldn’t have kids and we knew this from personal experience of trying. He was upset about what I told him. Max was in town from his band touring of The Bloody Daggers featuring their new hit Cry. When I told him that I said Max could stay with us he exploded on me. I walked into the room and found him sitting lifelessly on the couch. I walked up to him and sat on his lap. He looked at me and came closer to my face. “I’m sorry…I know I’ve never yelled at you that much…but I know he loves you and your mine…you chose me…he can’t just take you away.” He said. I looked at him and nodded. “He won’t” I promised. He searched my eyes and then kissed me on the lips. I smiled and got off as I answered the door to find Max with his band costume. He came in and hugged me. I looked over at Andrew who was glaring at him. He came over to me and put his arm around me. “Hey don’t worry man…I got a girlfriend…Stacie! Come on! Meet my friend!” He yelled out to the tour bus. He smiled back at me and looked at Andrew. A tall thin girl soon approached the door with dark brown hair…she had bright blue eyes and was wearing a Green Day T-shirt with tight black jeans and high top converse that were bright green. She had real heavy makeup on with bright red lip gloss. She smiled and kissed Max on the cheek as she held her hand out to me and Andrew to shake. We shook her hand and led her and Max into the dining room. They were holding hands and Andrew was stroking my arm. “So you two will stay in the guest room and your band mates will stay in a hotel?” I asked. They both nodded.
Later that night I and Andrew were in our bedroom talking. “She seems nice.” I said. He nodded while coming over to me. We all of a sudden heard disturbing noises coming from the guest room. We frowned and looked at each other. “We’re staying in here tonight.” He said. I nodded. He charged is body while sharing a bed with me so I could have the life of a normal married woman. He came closer to me and our faces were touching. “I love you so much Marni.” He said. I could feel his breath on my lips as I said it back but using his name. He smiled and pushed his lips against mine. I was surprised at first but then responded as he deepened it. I put my arms around his neck and he pushed me down on the bed. He was on top of me and I giggled. He started to laugh and he came crashing down on me from laughing. “Let’s not be as bad as them ok?” I said. He smiled and kissed me as he moved over to my side. He plugged in his charger into his side of the rib and put his arm around me as I drifted off.
Where am I? What am I doing here? This isn’t my room! Who is he?! What happened?!
I was in only my under garments and was sharing a bed with a man I never knew. I attended a party the night before but couldn’t recall what happened. I had a major headache and felt like I was going to be sick. I guess I was in a motel room by the appearance from cheap wall paper and the coke stains on the carpet. The stranger stirred and I got up and ran to the bathroom that I found. I changed into my clothes and walked out of the motel calling a cab.
I woke up and found Andrew putting his charger away. He looked at me and smiled. “You never put that away. Why now?” I asked. His eyes looked down and he looked back up at me. “I want to be a clean android.” He said smiling. I laughed and put my chin on his bare shoulder. He looked over to me and soon we heard a knock at our door. “Hey! Do you guys have any you know what’s?” Max asked through the door. I and Andrew frowned in disgust and I shouted “no! That’s disgusting though Max!” “Disgusting? How in the world is a cigarette disgusting?” he asked. We both laughed and just ignored him.
