The forest was getting dark, and he was lost. It was very cold outside. All he had on was a sweater he felt the cool air running through his arms. He lost his compass on his way through the forest. So he tried to go back the way he came. It made it even worse. “Oh, my god! I can’t believe I haven’t eaten yet. I need to find something to eat.” So the little boy was looking around to find the berries, cherries or some strawberries, he just needed to find something to eat. In the middle of the forest there was this old house and inside it he found the house was clean, just then he looked and he heard a noise. “Hmm..” he mumbled. “Awkward.” He took a few steps closer to the inside of the house. He heard the door screech behind him. Meanwhile the door closed by itself.
In the corner he spotted a rocking chair. It gradually rocked back and forth slowly when nothing was in it. He heard a sudden funky laugh from a voice of a child. “Hello?” he said. “What are you doing here?” A tall old man made him jump. “You shouldn’t be here!”
The old man pulled out a hatchet, and all of a sudden. The little boy ran towards the door. The old man grabbed the boy. Somebody else must have been there to because he helped the boy that was struggling to hold the boy down. All of a sudden the guy with the hatchet instantly stabbed him. He almost got the hatchet to the heart, but the little boy grabbed his hands. The guy must have forgotten to hold his hands down too. So the little boy was struggling to get out. The kid in the chair was screaming, “RUN!”
The kid got lose. He ran just like the kid in the chair told him to. He got out of the house he ran very fast where he got lost again. “Oh, no!” The little boy cried. “Not again! I’m lost!”
After a minute he took short breaths to calm down. He looked behind him and jumped. “Oh my god! Why did you do that!” The little boy didn’t know that the kid who sat in the chair had followed him. So he was shocked. “Wait a minute, Weren’t you in the house a couple of minutes as I was running. I swear that you were just sitting still.
The kid that had followed him looked kind of like an alien. He had an alien head and hands. But he was a normal person. “I’m a ghost, so I can follow you!” The little boy was shocked. “So Derik, what brings you out here into the woods?” Asked the ghost. He started talking. “Well you see I went to go for a walk my house is about two blocks from here.” He paused for a moment to take a breath. “Wait a second, how did you know my name.” Well see Derik I know everyone’s name who lives by this forest. You are what they call a mediator.” Derik interrupted, he was confused. He never even heard of this mediating thing.” What are you talking about. For your information I am 7 years old. I did not mean to come out here I got lost.” Derik was kind of mean. The ghost had turned away with his arms across his chest. “humph…. Fine! You want to be that way.”
Derik noticed he was acting a little immature for this mediating thing. After all he just found out. He was a little shock to be a mediator. “I’m sorry.” Derik said in a calm voice. He kind of felt bad for the little kid. “What happen why are you a ghost.” Derik thought that he might offend the little ghost. “I don’t know, I guess it was something to do with dehydration. My grandpa, who was in there had said that we both dyed of dehydration.”
The little boy was very sad to here about this. So he said, “I’m sorry. I was just wondering. I hope you don’t mind me asking.” So anyways do you know where it is safe to find food or something. The reason being is because I have not eaten since I’ve been on this walk, and I am really hungry. I mean only if you know where there are blueberries, strawberries, and apples on trees or something. PLEASE!”
“Shhh….” The ghost said in a whisper. “Keep your voice down. I don’t want the others to find us.” The ghost leaned up to Derik’s ear, “follow me, I have this secret hiding place. I made it myself. After I accidentally died.”
Derik interrupted him. “Accidentally?” The ghost was just about to say why he meant accidentally died. “Well you see my grandfather, was a nice man. We went for a walk one day through the forest here and we had a backpack of water. We don’t care if it is cold.” he paused for a short moment. “So We drank every single bottle of water all day long. We started in the morning and we were going to go home at night. But we found this house. And It was me and just my grandpa, my parents didn’t want me when I was a baby and my grandpa took me so that I wouldn’t go into those “Folk homes” he said with an example of quotation marks at the side of his head. As in use of kind of sign language. “So It’s been very hard. He just told me this now. I mean I was wondering why I was living with grandpa and not mom and dad.
