A taste of honey is a play set in the fifties. It begins with Jo and Helen (Jo is Helen's Daughter) moving on to a new flat as Helen cannot afford their current flat, so they sneak out whilst the landlady is watching television. This play changed the views of people in that decade. It broke taboos from that time.
My favourite part of the play was when Jo and Helen escape from their first home at the beggining. I liked this scene because it shows aloot about the personality of Helen. It shows she isn't afraid of much and is willing to take risks.
After they move in, Helen moves away with her new husband, Peter. Jo falls pregnant with a black sailor.
I think the play could have been improved if they actually ended the story rather than finishing at a cliffhanger.
I think the author thried to tackle subjects no-one dared to talk about suach as mixed race babies and homosexuals. I think it challenged those who saw it.
