Opening to a dim light, the immediate feelings of grogginess and sleep were clinging onto my mind like cobwebs. Rising I shook my head slightly in attempt to wake my drooping eyelids. Throwing off my covers I braced for the shock of cold to hit then wear off, and then quickly I rummaged around to find where I had thrown my jeans and t-shirt. Walking towards the bathroom I looked around at the small house. It wasn't much but I enjoyed the feel of familiarity living in less space. Carrying out my morning routine of brushing and a quick shower I headed towards the kitchen to satiate my stomach.
As per usual the kitchen was stocked with fresh fruit, bread, and sliced meat. Once I had questioned the stock of food and the absence of canned or preserved food but put it down as being healthy. Hastily stacking my sandwich with several slices of roast beef and cheese with a lettuce leaf somewhere in the middle, spreading a thin layer of mayo on a piece of bread to top it off. Satisfied with my work I headed onto another copy for my father who was sleeping as of usual.
Looking over the rooms and hallways that were strewn across the layout of the foundation, I smiled without knowing. Shouting "Wake Up" to wake my heavy sleeper of a father. Carrying my leaning sandwich to my bedroom, I happily slouched into my thickly padded rocking chair. Having just finished the poems of Edgar Allen Poe, I sought out a specific book. I swept my eyes over my wall of books that I had bought and acquired over the years. With the help of my father, I had devoted a whole wall to build three separate bookshelves which were about half filled with tales ranging from nursery rhymes to dreadful journeys across the world. I finally located my selected tome from a secret section of the shelf.
The title had long faded from the over, the leather worn from years of use. Opening the cover, "Mythological Myths and creatures" was written in a flame reddish color, which somehow refused to lose its luster, directly on the inside of the book. Slightly skimming across the pages filled to the brim of creatures and legends, some of which were known and many that have faded into history. Subjects ranging from the vampires to the crab gods of the Atlantic, this book had them all and then some. Coming across a fairly large and detailed section of the book, I halted and looked upon the large picture of the creature of this section. While being the most used part of the book, it still felt as if it were brand new rather than years old.
Feathers of Flame
Delicate and Strong
Seven who Became
Essence of Life so Long
Even though I had memorized these lines from repeated readings, I still loved to read from the text itself. As I brush my fingers across the flame colored text; the warmth bloomed from my chest and spread throughtout my veins. I could feel the gentle tug of a grin spread across my face.

Description:
A book idea that i had stumbled across during one of my bored/creative tangents:
Basically a world that is 4 large areas; A large desert area to the south, frigid frost kingdoms to the north, shadow lands to the east, and fire plains to the west. Each region (except for desert area) has a phoenix that binds with a handler ever 100 years. (3 types of phoenixes: Fire, Ice, and Shadow) - Date: 01/12/2012
