As Gabe watched everyone around him dying from the unknown assassin, his pulse quickened. This was something ethereal, something in all of his 20 years of experience with SWAT, he didn't know how to handle. To his left, another man had died, decapitated. Gabe put his eye to the scope of the gun, hoping to get a lock on the man. No, the beast that was capable of such destruction. Bullets were flying everywhere, but the only bullets that hit their target were the ones from this monster. Gabe thought back to his academy days. He was always a trouble maker. But what had happened was unspeakable.
"Gabriall Jackson! Micheal Whitaker! Rise from the bench!" the Judge commanded. The two men stood, staring at the judge, fearful of his next decision.
"For the murder of Bruce Hawk, you, Micheal Whitaker, will take the firing squad." The Judge said in a deep voice. 'Mike's been wrongfully accused.' Gabe thought bitterly, staring at his friend, tears came to his eyes. As police came to lead Mike away, Gabe gave him a hug and a pat on the shoulder.
"I'll miss ya, Squirt." Gabe said, trying hard to hold in his tears.
"You too, Bigfoot." Mike said, letting a few tears fall loose.
"I know it wasn't you. I'll bring this case to justice one day." Gabe said, staring at his friend.
"I can die happy, knowing I have children, a wife, and a best friend who still believe in me." Mike said, smiling sadly to Gabe. Mike's children and wife walked up to him, giving him hugs and kisses. Gabe backed up, suddenly unable to contain his emotions. This was his best friend.
Gabe walked with his best friend, to meet the firing squad. When Mike was tied to the pole, Gabe gave the order. "FIRE!" He yelled, his voice cracking halfway through. Thunder struck the air, before Mike's body lie limp. Gabe could no longer hold in his tears. He started crying openly. He watched the firing squad leave with malice, before a man that was in the firing squad smirked back at him. Realization his Gabe. It was this man. The evidence added up. Gabe glared at the man. They would pay. They all would. This is when the bitterness in his heart had started.
Gabe watched as more people died, until there were two left. Recognition lit Gabe's eyes, as he realized the last man standing other than him, was the one who had killed Mike. The man turned to Gabe, a pleading look in his eyes, before he fell down, lifeless. Gabe looked away, to the other direction. Gabe lowered his gun, accepting his fate, when he saw something move in the darkness.
Out came a man, his eyes mottled with rage, his mouth twisted into an angry sneer, his nose had become flat, and he was breathing heavily. After a second look, realization hit Gabe. The man Gabe was looking at, was a distorted version of himself. Gabe closed his eyes to blink, before he realized he was gone. The Gabe in front of him. Laying around him were dead bodies. But everything was different. Gabe's back should be to these people. Gabe looked at his hands, before everything became clear. He could see his hands stained with their blood. They were his comrades, and he had killed them. But then again, hadn't they done the same? When they condemned Mike to death? He hadn't done it, yet they still kept insisting it was him. Well, finally, Gabe had had his revenge, the goal which had driven him for the past few years, what he woke up for each morning. Gabe fell to his knees, crying. Only, these were tears of joy. He had done it. He had finally given Mike peace.
