It's official. I'm turning this into a scifi. Next chapter should be the start of the whole scifi thing. Additionally expect a chronology entry so you know who is related to who. OwO
Chapter 2
I woke to the dawn light filtering in from the dusty window, ok I lied. What had really woken me was the incessant beep of the alarm clock on the night stand. But since the foremost sentence sounds better, we'll pick up from there. I watched the particles float aimlessly about, and observed with wonder the shafts of visible light. I threw back my covers and yawned. I had been used to getting up early every day, that was how we did things down south. We were up with the sun, so waking up this early was normal to me. Apparently for Kazuya, it wasn't. He groaned and said "Just a little longer..." I laughed and replied "Wake up, sleepy head. You'll be late." I prodded him no further on this, and went to take a shower.
It was refreshing to feel the warm water sliding down my skin, leaving tiny dew-like drops. With my mind clear of the sleepy haze, nervousness was free to take root. I shifted uncomfortably. A new school, people I didn't know. No doubt I was very different from them, it was daunting to say the least. I felt my nervousness build on its self until I was biting my lip and pacing around in the shower. I didn't want to go, what if no one liked me? Worse of all, what if they found my accent, my clothing, my very presence weird? I took in a deep breath and cursed silently to myself. I wasn't helping my situation by building up scenarios. And it wasn't like I could skip. Getting here had cost me a small fortune, so quiting because I was too nervous wasn't an option. I stepped out of the shower and dried myself off, finishing by sweeping my long, wet hair into the towel. I slid a pale blue sun dress on, it had darker flowers embroidered on it.
I had returned to the bedroom, to find Kazuya now dressed, and standing in front of a mirror, carefully combing his hair. He wore similar garb to the clothes he had been in the day before. Skinny jeans and a white tee-shirt. Along with his checkered lime green and black hoodie, he seemed ready to go. All the way down to his feet which were adorned with lime green Converse. He had a Poptart sticking out of his mouth, and he waved to me as I came in. "I'm headin' out, see you later."
"Mmkay." I replied, walking into the kitchen. I picked up the box of Poptarts, and took out a package. Popping the two from the package into the toaster, I returned to the bathroom. The sound of the blow dryer was loud in the empty bedroom. It took me a good thirty-minutes to dry my hair completely. I picked up my Poptarts and my white messenger bag on my way out. I hurried down the hall, knowing I was already late to my first class.
I opened the door to my classroom, eyes flocked to me like bees to honey. I muttered my apologies to the teacher for being late. The teacher, Mr. Russel, snorted and said "Next time try to be punctual Ms. Lee!" I looked up, and instantly regretted doing so. The students were all still looking at me, as though they'd never seen someone like me in their entire lives. I felt my face flush, and I quickly occupied the nearest empty seat. I was next to a boy in a letterman jacket, with hair that twisted out just past his ear. A classic jock haircut. He looked at me and whispered "Nice entrance blondie."
"I have a name" I replied defiantly
"And that would be'?"
"Skylar, Skylar Lee."
He made a sound similar to a huh, and said "Cool."
I felt myself easing up as the day wore on. I learned that the boy I'd say by in my first class was named Duncan, and that he had played football at his old school. Along with him, I had also met a girl by the name of Stella. She was from Boston, and had lots of piercings and tattoos. I learned that her parents were rich, and they sent her here to straighten out her habit of bad behavior. With half the day left to go, I felt more confident than I had that morning. Maybe making friends wasn't that hard after all.
