It took me less than five minutes to reach there. It was deserted apart from a couple sitting on a bench. I went to look for my brother everywhere and even asked the couple if the had seen him but, unfortunately, they had not seen a single child since the last thirty minutes. I refused to panic even if I could feel the fear rising. Nick had perhaps reached home while I was looking for him here.
"Yes, this is what happened or perhaps he went to one of his friends' place," I said to myself. I decided to return home.
On reaching there, Mom, who was tremendously anxious rushed to the door to see whether Nick was with me. I deduced from her reaction that my brother was not home. Suddenly Mom burst out crying. This was too much for her. I tried to comfort her but could think of no words to tell her. I then remembered I had to phone Nick's friends to ask if he were at their place. I told Mom about it, hoping to make her feel better. However she just looked at me sadly and reminded me that we did not have the telephone number of any of his friends. I wanted to cry out in despair. Where was my little brother, my little angel? Was he fine? Why was he not returning home? Neither Mom nor I could sleep that night and the next two hours found us sitting in front of a policeman begging him to find my little brother.
Two days later.............
