There was a silence in the mist as it spread across the lake in the middle of the woods were no one seemed to be, though through the silence of the mist there was a voice. The voice seemed to be a young woman’s voice, soft and elegant, calm and comforting, yet at the same time it seemed so distant and remote. The chill that came from the voice was one of utter fright, and those whom heard it would not be able to move away from the enticing, yet frightening sound of the voice that seemed to arise from the utter nothingness of the mist that slowly expanding from the mist into the woods surrounding it.
A young man walked calmly through the woods, and calmly, yet cautiously through the woods. A small backpack over his shoulder as he slowly walked. Then he heard a voice, a young feminine voice, though the chill that ran through him as he heard it seemed to paralyze him with fear and regret as he stood there. The mist seemed to come from nowhere and encompass him. There was nothing he’d want more right now than to be home right now, at least there he would be able to relax and take care of his mother, though she was not long for this world. His eyes scanned the mist as his senses could not detect anyone from which the voice was coming from and his fear strengthened as he stood there silently. “Wh-who are you” the young man said in a husky tone that obviously had some hint of fear in it. His eyes wandered and there was nothing around him yet at the same time there was an essence surrounding him that was both frightening and relaxing. The voice of the young female came with a soft sound and yet a booming noise, “Relax young traveler, you must listen to me and be calm, I pose no threat to you and all that I want is for you to listen to what I ask.” There was a silence that filled the air and the chill was melting and increasing at the same time.
The young man thought there for a minute, and then said, “what is it that you ask?” The essence that had surrounded him manifested itself in front of him as an entity of unknown origins. It was taller than the young man, much taller, yet thinner. Its arms were longer than a human’s would be in proportion to its body, and they had long fingers which curved into the palm of the hand, if you could call it that for it was very thin. The Manifestation reached out and the young man stepped back then stopped, feeling uneasy and dizzy. He collapsed to the ground, his breath slow and even, his heart beat the same. The Manifestation dissipated into mist and engulfed the young man within it. It entered into his body through his mouth, which was open, and through his nose very quickly. The young man wouldn’t awaken for hours, and once he did he would realize that there was something different about himself, and that he was slowly changing. For those possessed by the spirits of the forest are bound by a curse, and will slowly turn into that which possesses them…

- Wow... That's pretty good... I wouldn't give up on it. It's got the potential to be a wonderful horror story. It gave me goosebumps and that's not easy to do.
