Alexis looked at the note. "I love you sweetie!" it read.
It was a note from her mother, before she'd died. She'd died five years ago, when she was eight. Now thirteen and in eighth grade, she had always kept her feelings inside. Lately she'd been crying.
Alexis placed the note under her pillow. She opened her window and climbed out, begining to walk along the road. She thought about her best friend, Sam, and her family. She stopped, noticing that in her daydreaming she'd strayed to the center of the road. She bent down to pick up a rock, and threw it into the woods. She stood there for a moment. As she turned to head home, she saw headlights coming toward her. FAST.
Alexis had no time to think as the large six wheeled truck hit her with incredible force. She felt her whole body buckle into the air, the slam into the pavement about six yards away from the truck. She heard the truck swish past her and keep going. Her heart thuddered irregularly.
Keep thumping, heart, keep going! You can do it! She urged herself.
Come on, She thought, and her heart beat it's last, becoming as silent as the night around it.
Her body began to desintigrate, sparkling, then dissapearing. But, Alexis opened her eyes. Sitting up, she looked around.
"I'm ALIVE!" She yelled to the world, then suddenly stopped. Something didn't seem right.
She placed her hand over her heart. No beating. She had no pulse, either. What's going on? she wondered.
That's when Alexis realized she was dead.
