• Krissie walked down a walkway to the gazebo in her grandmother's garden. A rose thorn hooked onto her skin, and drew blood. She cried out in pain.
While sucking on her finger she sat on the swing.
She pulled out a band-aid along with her sketchbook and a mechanical pencil. Once the band-aid was on she started to sketch.
After half an hour the drawing turned out to be a girl. It was Krissie! But there were huge differences.
The drawing was wearing warrior clothes, and had a sword, but it wasn't that, that grabbed Krissie's attention. It was the markings. It was as if they were carved into her skin, and they swirled around her eyes down her neck, across her body, down her legs and arms, then reached her palms and the upside of her feet. Her expression was one that Krissie could never achieve. It curdled her blood, and made her stomach hurt.
Krissie changed the page, and started again. An hour later there was the girl again, but there was a guy with her. He was so handsome, almost beautiful. He had warrior clothes too, but he had a silver knife and was carving the carvings into the girl's skin. Krissie started to tremble.
Krissie put her stuff away, and looked at her palm almost daring the carvings to be there.
She leaned against the swing and swung back and forth for a while.
Krissie heard someone walking under the rose arch.
She whirled around, and saw him. It was the guy from her drawing. Her eyes darted to look for the knife, but, of course, it wasn't there.
"Hello." the guy said. "Do you know.......remember me?"
"I drew you." she blurted out stupidly.
He chuckled in response. "Yes, i thought you would."
"Who was that girl with the markings?" she blurted.
    "Someone you shouldn't know."
    "She looked like me."
    "Yes, she did."
"Was she me?" once she heard them she regretted them.
"No! She was never you! And you'll never be her!"
"Then who are you!" she shot back.
    "I am Alke."
    "Who was she."
    "She was Zalei."
    "Why did i draw her?"
    "I don't know."
"Why does she look like me?"
"Because you were her, once. But you won't be again."
    "Why?"
"Because she was.......so evil. She deserved those carvings. They mean evil."
    "Why do i matter?"
"Because i love you from both lives. No matter how evil she was i loved her."
"What do you want with me?"
    "I want Zalei back."
He walked up to Krissie, his arms wrapped around her waist, and said, "And she's coming back whether you want her to or not."
    My soul. Krissie thought.
