Ryo's and Rainbows Chap. 1
-
Azami sighed as she finally finished scrubbing down the last table at the cafe. Closing time was upon her, and Mizuki, Najdan, Amaya and Draco were all gone. All was quiet, save for the soft pitter patter of rain against the roof of the Ryo Tenshi Cafe. Azami sighed; a smile on her face. She made her way back to her counter, rested her elbows on it, and cupped her chin in her hands.
"Hi Azami,I'm surprised no ones here, it seems like everyone would want to stay after ours." Lite gave a smile as he shook off the water. "It appears I'm a little late." Lite said as he saw the neon sign turned off.
Azami shrugged. "You are a little late. Something with their squads came up. Nothing about us healers" she replied evenly. She sighed and ran a hand through her tan hair. The neon pink highlights she agreed to get with Amaya were not such a good idea. Ever since Squad Four had discovered a way to give sight back to Soul Reapers, Azami had been able to see in a new light. She'd have momentary spells of blindness, but even then, her aura seeing power would kick in. Azami sighed. "In any case, you're welcome to stay as late as you want."
"Thanks for letting me stay." Lite said as Bon entered with drenched fur. Bon shook around on the mat and licked his paw silently. Lite grabbed a chair and sat down in it Bon following. "Well, I was going to go spar with Bon, but it started to rain." Lite relaxed and stroked Bons head as bon said "Hello Azami."
Azami's grinned remained on her face. "Evening, Bon Kun." she greeted him. The girl sighed as she curled a bit of hair around her left index finger. Azami looked out of one of the windows. It was raining fairly hard. She didn't think she had ever seen it pour this hard. Azami tilted her head. What could have caused this? It wasn't long before the lights were flickering. "Ah s**t! I knew I should've paid that electricity bill!" she muttered to herself as she moved into the back in search for candles.
"Do you need any help?" Lite said as Bon hopped off the chair going into the bathroom. As a flash of light came from under the door, a hollow whistle came from in the room, Lite immediatley took out a shirt and a pair of pants and cracked the door open and tossed them in.
Azami shook her head and grabbed about four fairly large scented candles, a box of matches in her mouth. She set them all down on the counter, but wasn't surpised when the lights suddenly flickered off. She sighed before finding the matches again. Azami light one and soon light each of the candles. "Thank God for candles..." she muttered.
"Holy lord those are big, the candles I mean." Lite coughed embarassed at the sentence he just uttered. Bon left the bathroom in human form with a black shirt and pants. He grabbed a seat and and took a look at the candles, "You can put those away." Bon snapped his fingers as a white flame appeared and lighted.
Azami raised her brow at the statement Lite just uttered. She let it pass as she looked at Bon with tired eyes. "You know, you could've saved me the time and effort if you just did that before I went into the back, ya know? In any case, thanks." she said. Azami leaned down a bit and blew out all the candles with one breath, and no light seemed to dim. She sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. That was a bad habit...
"No problem, I love that power." Bon said pulling out a paper fan, "Let me know when you want me to put them on or out." After a few flickers and buzzing noises, the lights went out, following the oven then the microwave. "Ah crap what happens now?" Lite asked helplessly.
Azami sighed with a simple smirk. "We wait until the lights come back on I guess." she replied. She then groaned at let her head fall onto the table. Azami groaned. As if things couldn't get any worse. The lights were shot and she was stuck in the cafe' in the pouring rain for God knows how long. "Wanna tell scary stories?" she asked.
I"It's a perfect time I guess. You start, I got nothing." Lite said as he scratched his head thinking of a scary story. "You got anything Bon?" Lite said, "Not a clue, but I'll think of one." Bon said replying quickly.
Azami lifted her head and grinned sheepishly. "I was kinda hoping you knew one while I thought of one." she replied. She laughed sheepishly as well before letting her head fall back down onto the table.
"Well, we're pretty much doomed." Lite sighed at the fact that there was nothing to do. "Any other ideas?" Lite held supported his head from his hand onto the table. Poor guy was pretty bored.
Azami whimpered. "I got nothin!! Do something funny! Act like a giraffe or something!" she commanded lightly. She let her soft brown hair fall around her face as she rammed her fists against the countertop a few times. Azami groaned. God, this sucked!!
In the grips of boredom Lite said "How 'bout an arm wrestle?" That was the last thing on his mind but that was the only thing that was going to be fun without power. Bon got up and said, ""I've got to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back." As he walked into the bathroom.
Azami shrugged. "I'm gonna lose. But why the hell not?" she asked from her face on the table. She pulled herself up and brushed some of her hair away from her eyes, and the bright crimson orbs seemed to glow softly.
"Fine, I'll go righty." He said sticking his right hand out ready for the match. "You sure you want to do this?"
Azami rolled her eyes. "I already told you I'm gonna lose. I stopped caring seven and a half seconds ago."she replied simply. Azami stuck out her right hand as well, taking his hand in hers.
"Your right." Lite banged his head on the table. "We DESPERATELY need something to do." Just as Lite said that Bon walked back in, "What'd I miss?"
A sort of wide smirk made it's way onto Azami's face. "We could tell eachother our deepest darkest secrests!" she said with a devilish grin. Azami looked from Lite to Bon, to Lite again. Did Bon have any deep dark secrests? How about Lite for that matter?
"You might want to start, Bon has none and me, well I have to go to go to the bathroom.
Azami slammed her head against the countertop. "Damn, this sucks!" she yelled. Azami got up from her place and walked over to the doors. SHe was this close to running outside and dancing like a maniac in the rain...Why not?...
Azami grinned as she threw open the door and ran out into the pouring rain. She smiled as the cold water kissed her skin and she started running. To where, Azami did not know. But when she reached it, Azami knew. She spun around on her toes in the forest, her crimson eyes closed. Lightning flashed and colors sprung in her eyelids.
"What the hell is she doing Bon?" Lite murmured quitely to Bon, "I dont know Lite, but maybe you should go after her!" Bon said, as a response Lite ran outside to find Azami. "Azami?! Where'd you go?"
Azami smiled and laughed as she danced around in the rain. Her brown hair was sticking obidiently to her skin and water dripped off her eyelashes. She tore off the white and black checked apron she wore for the cafe' and let it fall to the ground. In a hurry, Azami even tore off her sandals, letting the cold, wet grass seep between her toes as she continued dancing in the rain.
Lite ran into the forest to find Azami dancing in her bare feet. "What is going on here!?" Lite asked puzzled at her actions. "I mean it's raining out! Why are you dancing, is it that wacky kind of day?"
Azami laughed and opened her eyes to find a puzzled looking Lite. "There was no fun inside, so I decided to check outside! Come on, try it! Dance because no one's watching! Release your inhibitions!" she cheered.
"Fine, but dont tell anyone. Haha." Lite followed Azami's movement as they danced in unison. "This isn't half bad. It's pretty fun!"
Azami smiled as she closed her eyes once more. Of course it's fun! Out here, there are no limitations! Everything is already there!" she replied. Her body swayed to the music that played in her mind as her wet hair flew around and that same smile graced her face.
"It's raining like a hurricane but it doesn't matter since we are the only ones here!" Lite was so relieved by the dancing. He wanted to speak to her about something, but he didn't take up the courage to do it. So he kept dancing.
Azami grinned and moved her bangs from her face as she stopped dancing. The water that fell down on her face dripped down her face and neck, slithering down her body. Her clothes were soaked all the way through, but she just didn't care.
Noticing Azami stopping, Lite asked "Something wrong? Why did you stop dancing?" Chuckling at the odd question. Azami sighed and opened her eyes. "Because it's perfect." she replied, her voice barely audible over the sound of the rain. Azami blinked slowly and twirled around. She then let herself fall backwards onto the grass. The grass was cool against her back and a smile once again let itself make a way onto her face.
"Yeah, it's quite beautiful." Lite took a seat up against the tree next to Azami, as he stared into the sky. "It's clearing up, and man thats quite the daylight sky." It was ment to be in a painting it looked so good. Azami smiled and opened her eyes. The clouds were breaking and sunlight was slowly peaking through. What time was it anyways? Azami didn't care at the moment. She wad too darn calm to care. "Look." she whispered, pointing one elegant finger at the sky. And sure enough, a fairly sized rainbow was making it's way through the sky.
"Wow, that's amazing!" Lite said staring at the multicolored rainbow. "Times like these are so unforgetable. I love those kind of moments." Lite said remembering his childhood years.
Azami nodded. "It makes me feel almost as if I'm a kid again." she replied. Azami blinked slowly and looked up at Lite. "Earlier, about a few minutes ago, did you want to say something to me?" she asked.
"Well... never mind." Lite lost his courage again, and at the PERFECT MOMENT. "I dont know how to say it." Almost there. "Azami, I kind of, sort of, like you." There you go, Lite!
Azami smiled as she sat up. She ran a hand through her sandy brown hair as she stood up. Azami stretched out and turned to Lite. She walked towards him, her smile still on her face. "Well that's good to know, because I sort of, kind of, like you back." she replied, a slight blush on her face.
Azami folded her hands behind her back. "You're kinda sorta hopeless. Y'know?" She sighed and looked up at the sky. Azami looked back down at Lite and walked a little closer to him. "Not so sure about what to do right now...How about we improvise?" she asked. Azami leaned forward carefully, and let her lips fall atop Lite's.
After they stopped Lite smiled as he agreed with Azami. "I'm pretty helpless without you." He said as he started to put his lips on hers one more time. Azami pulled away and simply laughed. "Damn straight. And Is it just me, or is it nothing but coincidence that everything happened the way it happened today?" she asked. She turned around and leaned against Lite, looking up at the sky. "It almost seems a little too good to be true."
