Blentwood’s Depth
Is Blentwood better than love?
Lucy kept walking down Satchit Street when someone had obnoxiously bumped into her. “ Oh sorry, my bad, really sorry, sorry sorry sorry!” He had said, then he ran off. “Uh.. ok. Well, that was pleasant.” Lucy said, with a serious face on her. Martha came by. “Wow, guess what just happened. Some dude just bumped into me and kept saying sorry. Weird huh?” She said. “Oh well geez. That same thing happened to me. Did you catch his name?” Lucy said. “No, he just ran off.” Martha replied. Strange.. Lucy thought. How, and why, did it happen to them… The same way? Lucy shrugged and Martha and her trotted off to the park.
“Hey, It’s getting late, I should head home.” Martha said. “Alright, seeya!” Lucy replied. They shared a hug and Martha walks to her home. Martha’s home is number 204, right next to Lucy’s , which is 205, of course. Lucy yawned and walked a little longer before heading home. She tripped on a book! She wiped off the dirt and dust off her clothes and picked it up. She blew the dust and dirt off the book also, and read in big bold printing : History Of Blentwood. “Hmm.” Lucy pondered. “Maybe It’s time to brush up on my history.” she thought. She dusted the book one last time and went home.
She munched and crunched through her dinner, and rushed upstairs. “ Take a shower sweetie, your all dirty!” Her mother said. Lucy mumbled. She took a quick shower, got into her PJ’s, and went into her bedroom. She closed the door and locked it so no one could come in. She opened the book she found earlier today. A page she saw, completely blank. She flipped through the book. All the pages were blank! “Maybe it isn’t made and published yet..” Lucy said to herself. “Oh wait, I saw this with that one guy who bumped into me today. He had a lot of them.” Lucy kept flipping through the book to try to find at least one sentence or text in it. But she was luckless. She set the book on her Bedroom table and slept.
“Lucy, come on! Time for school! It’s your last day, I hope you got enough sleep!” Her mother yelled from downstairs. Lucy mumbled again and got out of her bed sheets. She didn’t make her bed, as always. She was too lazy, and she thought it wastes time. She got changed, ate, and got her backpack. “ Seeya mom, be back at three!” Lucy had said. Then, she went on to walk to school. She hid the history book in her backpack before she went out, thank goodness. She wanted to ask her teacher. Maybe she shouldn’t.. maybe she should? She didn’t know. All she knew right now is that she is sleepy and going to school.
“Martha! Martha! Look what I found. It’s a history book of Blentwood, completely blank though.” Lucy told her. “ Well that’s odd. I’ve never seen a blank book. Does it have a publish date on it?” Martha asked. Lucy checked, then shook her head no. “Hmm,” Martha said. “Well then, why is it in book form then if it isn’t even a book!” Martha said. Lucy shrugged once more. She needed to find out what is with this book, what is it even for anyway, if its blank? Lucy wondered..
After school, and after Lucy hung out with Martha, Lucy looked all over the town for the person who bumped into her yesterday. She found him sitting near the old run down barn, in the hay, sleeping. She shook him. “Wake up, wake up!” She yelled. He finally woke up. “ Woah! Oh no, I gotta write! Oh no, oh no, oh n” Lucy covered his mouth. “Shh,” Lucy said. “What in the world are you writing for on a sunny day?” She asked. “I’m writing about the city. Sorry, I’m being impolite, I’m Whynsjet.” He said. Whynsjet.. that reminded Lucy of someone, someone she knew a long time ago. She shook her head to stop spacing out, and went back to the conversation. “What are you writing about, of the city?” She asked him. “Just about when we came, what it felt like to live here, history.” Whynsjet said. That’s It! He’s the one who’s going to write that blank book! “I think you dropped this, is this yours?” Lucy said, handing him the blank book. “Oh, I’ve been looking for this, I was going to start writing in this one, but I guess I dropped it.” Whynsjet said. “Well, your welcome!” Lucy replied. She walked away, but he caught her hand and said, “Wait. Why were you curious about what I was writing?” He asked. “Oh. Just out of the ordinary curiosity, I guess.” Lucy replied. He let go, and Lucy walked back home. She kept thinking about him writing the books, hundreds of thousands of books, all blank still. Why was he looking for that certain book? Lucy began to space out after dinner, tired and droopy. She headed to her bedroom once more, still thinking about all those books, especially about Whynsjet.. Why would he write about Blentwood? She just turned and fell asleep once more, dreaming about the blank books she had saw this evening.
She woke the next morning, feeling cold and icky. There was a blood spot where she lay. She gone through the change she really never wanted to go through, but she did, and she faced it. She told her mother and she moved on with the other 80 years of her life. She went to school, in the corner of Green Street. It was a small room, with 10 desks, with sharpened pencils and lined paper on them. She looked at everyone and say her friend Martha once more. They chatted until the teacher, Ms. Bullock came in. They really weren’t surprised when they found her in a buttoned up grey skirted dress, and a ruler in her hand. She slapped the ruler on her desk and everyone rushed to their seats as class began.
After one period of class, she saw the person she saw last night. Whynsjet, she recalled to herself. She went over and talked to him. But before she did, she overheard him say, “..the night ended, we kissed.” She thought, ‘ As the night ended, we kissed.’ What? She thought he was talking about her and Whynsjet. She yelled, “ WHAT?! WE DIDN’T KISS!” Whynsjet stopped his conversation in fear. “Uh.. uh..” He didn’t have the words to say to her. He knew he was in deep kahoonies.
She drug him into her classroom that stood empty. “Why would you tell such a lie?” She asked him. She liked him the way he probably liked her, but now, she liked him even more. Weirdly, he answered, “ I wanted to be cool for a change.” She kissed him. He opened his eyes widely, then closed them in happiness. She stopped, and whispered before her breath, “Wow.” She felt a rush, and a flashback of her life behind her. She loved him, he loved her, and she felt great.
As she and Whynsjet walked on the sidewalk of the busy Green Street in Blentwood, they laughed, kissed, and chatted, but most of all, they felt love inside eachother. Lucy came up to her house, shared a last kiss with him for the day, and walked into her home. Her mother was sitting on a chair staring at her. “What was that?” She asked. Lucy stopped moving and dropped the housekeys. “Your too young to kiss. Go to your room.” Her mother said. “But, mom! I’m 10!” Lucy replied, trying to get her way. “NOW!” Her mother yelled. She stomped to her room, sobbing about the incident she should’ve looked over.
10 Years later..
She runs through the meadows, tears streaming through her eyes. Her heart had faced yet another terrible break, and she couldn’t stop the tears from coming. She keeps running until she reached the home she so terribly loved. She bursted through the door and lay crying on her sofa. The shivering breaths she had took had gave a sign of sadness and a hope of comfort by a relative. No one had lived at the the old mill but her and her love, but now, just her alone. She cannot fend for herself in this big world, she cannot get the work she desperately needs and wants. She had been going through her own depression. She lay on the sofa, never thinking of getting up for the rest of the evening. The door stood locked shut for the night, and she slept on the sofa covered in her tears. Her name, was Hannah.
She awoke in the morning, early enough to put on her “pretty face.” She got ready for another rejection from a application, she thought. She put on her gray suit, grabbed breakfast, coffee, and left the house off to the rejection in front of her. She drove up to the CEC news building, which stood for City Eye Channel News Building, to see if she got her reporter application accepted. She sat and waited like the other chattering applicants. She started to become bored, so she tried socializing. “Do you believe how men are so insensitive?” She said to someone. That certain someone turned around, clearly visible, it was a man. She turned red and looked down at her lap. “Yes, most men are. Sometimes even me.” He had said back. She was shocked, she didn’t know a man was manly enough to state that men are usually insensitive to women! They stormed up a conversation, and after awhile, he left because he had been called for. His name, was Charles. Charles Lenston. She smiled and did some Sudoku, then her name was called.
A woman asked her to go to room 243. She gently said, “Alright, thank you ma’am.” She went past many doors until she reached the door number 243. She walked inside. A very obese man sat at a desk writing a note. He pressed a button on his desk phone and said, “Janet, send up some knives please.” Hannah grew very cautious. She sat down slowly on the chair in front of him. Then, a girl, supposedly ‘Janet,’ had a plate of 4 stake knives on a plate. Hannah grew very scared. She hid her emotion she was hiding inside and continued on staring at the fat man with what it looks like barbeque on his shirt. She closed her eyes in disgust and opened them again. “W.. Whats the knives for?” She asked the fat man. “Janet. Leave.” He said. She started to put black gloves on, for special purposes. “Oh. The reason?” He said to Hannah. “This is the reason!” He immediately threw a knife at her! She ducked and grabbed the knife out of the blue painted wall. She threw it back, catching his sleeve, making him unable to reach anything. She climbed out the window, and with her black gloves, it allowed her to climb up buildings more smoothly. She got onto a flat rooftop. She looked out, seeing lights of stoplights, cars, and buildings. She sat, and looked out for her own residence. She spotted it, and quickly got up, jumping from her seat. She jumped from one building to another, until she finally reached the ground. She ran a mile until she reached her house. She went inside, panting. She locked the door. “What was that about?” She asked herself. “The knives.. the.. w.. why?” She asked herself again. She shook her head in disgust and trotted along upstairs to her bedroom. The next morning she awoke in some different place. She was on the top of the empire state building! She jumped, then quickly got pulled back down from some sort of chain. Locked! How is this possible? Is this a dream? She looked around her. Nothing. Just a button. A red button. She looked inside the case it was in. It wrote, ‘ If you wish to be safe, press the button. Although if you do this, your precious little friend Charles will suffer a painful death from him plummeting down into a sharp cove with sharp peaks and dangerous animals that will eat him alive or dead. What’s your choice? ’ She gasped. Save herself from dying, or save the innocent man that she appeared to like? She didn’t press the button she was wanting to press before she knew he would die. She found something to get her out. The case. It had broken up parts of the key. She quickly pieced them together and used the key to get out of the trouble she was in. Now it was time to save Charles.
