• As stated in the description, I do not have any connection with Static Shock. Ryder [Sonas] and Prisma are both original characters by me, created for a Static Shock based role play. This piece was written after said role play died out. I'll warn you right now, there's a bit of foul language, but nothing too hardcore. Comments and criticism are always welcome.

For anyone who may be curious, the word "Sonas" is Latin for sound, which is what Ryder is gifted with; control and manipulation of sound.

Ryder had heard the whole thing from the ground. The only reason she had? Her ability to tune into sounds around her and amplify them so that she could hear them. This was one of those times where she really didn't want to, but her curiosity had gotten the best of her. Her blue eyes behind her visor looked up at the sky towards the general direction of where Richie and Virgil were, misting up slightly with tears. Taking a deep breath she shook her head and proceeded to walk back the other way. After another night of chasing Bang Babies, she didn't need this too. 'Why couldn't I see that before?' she thought, working to unbuckle her gloves and remove them from her hands. Taking in a shuddering breath, she sighed and stuffed the first glove she'd removed into the loop of the vinyl pants that went with her costume. 'I should have seen it days ago, back at the movies, when he'd come in and seen us kissing each other. Virgil had him first, and here I am, taking him away in some sense...' Shaking her head, she finally removed the other glove and repeated the same process of looping it through the vinyl again.

Stopping for a moment in time, Ryder lifted her visor away from her eyes, just soon enough to feel the tears slowly leak from them. "Sonuvabitch..." she whispered, continuing on her path back towards the gas station. She probably wouldn't stop this time though, out of slight fear that things between her and Virgil would get ugly, if in fact, that was where Virgil was headed. Right now, she didn't want that confrontation with him, and she knew that he didn't even want to be face-to-face with her. That was in the air all around her. Setting her visor back on her head, she looked at both her hands. Black lines from where Static had accidentally sent his energy at her still were there, and still were sensitive. Very gently, she ran her fingertips over them, scrunching up her nose when it hurt.

"I'm gonna believe that this was an accident and that this whole thing will either blow over, or didn't happen." she said to the night air, closing both hands.

Ryder sighed again and took the next left before the gas station, heading towards the arcade, which was another couple of blocks away from her house. At this hour of the evening it wasn't smart for her to walk around in the dark alone, but what other choice did she have at that point. She didn't want to have Richie there with her because she knew there would be an awkward silence, and she knew that she'd be blaming herself for that statically charged slap that Richie'd gotten across his cheek. Opening her right hand up, she carefully ran it through her hair, pulling her bangs away from her eyes.

In the streetlights, Ryder's purple spandex under armor and dark blue vinyl costume took on a slight shine. "Well, off to home now, I guess..." she said softly, sticking to walking the edge of the road. Listening in to the world around her, Ryder let a weak smile play across her lips, but jumped the instant several of the streetlights blew. Instantly, she froze, listening to her surroundings, but not hearing anything. Keeping her mind clear, she proceeded to walk again, only to find herself looking upside down at was below her before. Letting out a sharp screech, her blue eyes went straight to the source of the upside down. "Light...?" she asked softly, letting her brain register as to who it was.

    "P-Prisma?!"

Prisma chuckled and looked up at Ryder with a smile. "I did say that I wanted another chance to fight with you, did I not? And considering you're the biggest problem I've got right now? I'm going to start with you. You're the one that can get in my head. I don't like that at all..." she said with a fierce growl, putting more intensity into the tendril of light that had wrapped itself around Ryder's ankle. Instantly, Ryder let out another sharp screech.

"How am I your biggest problem?" Ryder gasped, the heat from the light starting to burn through the spandex. Very suddenly, she knew just what Richie had been feeling a week ago. "And furthermore, how the Hell did you get out of your cell?" Again, Ryder let out another slight screech and closed her eyes. 'It hurts... Like Hell!' she thought, bringing her arms up to attempt to grab the light that had a hold around her ankle.

Prisma laughed at Ryder's stupidity, sending another tendril of light to Ryder's hands, which were bare. To this, Prisma heard Ryder give an inwards scream. "There's no point in you trying, Sonas. They can't hear you anyway. And not just that, but I believe your buddies are going to avoid each other for now."

"Shut up..." Ryder growled. "Just shut... UP!" Feeling the heat on her bare hands, Ryder let out an ear piercing scream, then blacked out. The intensity from the heat of the light was painful enough to make Ryder's head cloud quickly. And being upside down nearly five and a half feet above the ground didn't help either.
