• Lei sighed. He was bored. His Mum was on the PC shopping and his Dad was out training his Beedrill. All Lei could do was play fetch with Shadow, his Mum's Mightyena. Then the doorbell rang. "Could you get that for me Lei?" Lei's mum asked him. He ran to the door and opened it. It was his sister Maya (Pronounced Mi-ya)! "Maya!" Lei hugged his sister.
    "Hello Lei." Maya said, hugging him back. Maya and her Lucario walked in the room. "Hey Lucario!" Lei greeted Maya's first Pokémon.
    "Lucario!" Lucario replied. Their Mum heard them.
    "Oh hello Maya!" she called to them.
    "Hi Mum!" Maya called back.
    "Race you outside Lucario." Lei said as a challenge to Lucario. Lucario nodded and rushed outside. "Hey! I wasn't ready!" Lei laughed as he raced outside too.

    Lei was nine years old, coming up to his tenth birthday. Maya was eighteen. Having been a pokémon trainer for eight years she was an expert at battle and had a perfect bond with many of her pokémon, including Lucario. After half an hour of running around the garden with Lucario, Lei came back inside and sat down at the kitchen table, a great smell entering his nose as he walked in. Maya was at the oven cooking something. "What are you cooking Maya?" Lei asked. "Some vegatable soup." Maya replied
    "Mmmm... It's been ages since I've had your soup. I love it!"
    "Do you want to help me by serving the Pokéchow?" Maya asked
    "Ok!" Lei replied happily then poured out some Pokéchow into the bowls on the floor. Then their Dad came through the door. "Mmmmm" He said as soon as he smelt the soup. "Honey, have you bought a cookbook? That food smells delicous!"
    "No. Maya's cooking." she replied.
    "Oh." he said, sort of dissapointed "Hello Maya!"
    "Hi Dad!" Maya called back. "Lunch is ready!" Maya shouted. All the pokémon in the house rushed into the kitchen and started demolishing the Pokéchow in the bowls. After everyone had finished eating Lei went back outside with Lucario. Maya and their parents stayed at the table. "So Maya, why have you come here?" their dad asked.
    "I'm here for Lei's birthday." Maya replied
    "Oh, Ok. What are you getting him?" their mum asked
    "You'll find out in the morning."
