My little sister and I where walking down Mosheim street, when we heard a loud shriek. “What’s that?” asked Maria, my beautiful young sibling. Her chestnut black hair glistened in the light of the sun, and it always made me chuckle. Her chocolate eyes stared at me, still wondering. “I don’t know Maria, but it surely isn’t anything for us to worry about.” I said to her, trying to sound confident, even though I was worried to.
“Brother… I know your lying to me!” she said. I forgot… she has amazing ways of knowing things. She can read people inside out, just by looking at them, almost as effective as reading minds.
“Well Maria, just calm down. I’m sure whatever it is, it is handled.” But then I felt a jolt go through me. Like my sister, I am also very advanced. I can feel peoples emotions, when they are happy, I feel like I have just eaten after weeks, completely refreshed, when angry or frightened, I feel burning through my whole body, as if I was on fire.
“Brother who is it?” she asked me, concerned. That really hurt. The burning is even worse (to think if that was even possible) when it is someone I loved.
“Mom.” I breathed. I could sense she was in trouble. The burning was so strong I felt like I could fall to the ground and bleed to death. But luckily my “ability” doesn’t have a physical effect on me.
Mother’s ability was a little more complex than sister and mine. She can change living things feelings toward her, but sometimes it backfires, and she almost can’t take it. It was like burning to her, and it makes her feel like when I feel other’s unappealing emotions.
I swooped Maria off her feet and carried her on my back. The burning kept getting worse for mother, which made me feel it worse to. I felt like my knees would give out, but of course they didn’t. When we where so close to mom I could almost taste her, a woman came in front of us.
Her eyes where a dark violet, and she looked like she hadn’t slept in months. The bags under her eyes where almost as violent of a color as her eyes. She had shining orange hair, and an elegant maroon dress. “What’s the hurry my dear?” she asked in a low, mystical voice. I could feel Maria reading her, and Maria’s burning began to fade. She wasn’t a enemy.
“I’m sorry, but we really must be going.” I said politely.
“Ah yes, to find your mother, correct?” said the woman.
“Yes! Have you seen her? She is blindingly gorgeous, like you. Her eyes are like mine, a dark chocolate.” Maria said joyfully. She was so good at socializing; it made me want to scream. She definitely got that from mom.
“Ah,of course my dear. Follow me, I know where you mother has gone.”
“Thank you.” Said Maria, and I stayed silent. We where following a strange beautiful lady into an unknown place, searching for a loved one. That had horror movie written all over it! Was sister mad? We had to get away from this woman! But, she knows where our mother is, which we need to know. Maria was still calm, I could feel it. What was strange was that I couldn’t feel the woman. Almost like she had no emotions.
