Good for a beginner. One thing to remember is Proportion. It's everything. I suggest using basic shapes and lines to start out your sketch so everything comes out evenly. Here is a site with more details and tutorials w/ vids:

- Not bad, the eye is a bit big for this angle and you should be a to see a little of the other eye too, the hands seem a little off too. Not bad at all for a beginner, keep it up.
